Eryk grew up in Asheville, NC, surrounded by Appalachian hills, soft rain, and the sound of an old upright piano in his family’s living room. His mother was a school librarian, and his father worked in carpentry. Music wasn’t a family profession, but it was always in the house — not as background noise, but as comfort.
At age 9, he began teaching himself piano by ear, picking out melodies from old records and the soundtracks of films he loved. By his teens, he was writing simple songs, though he rarely shared them outside a small circle of friends.
In his early 20s, Eryk went through a period of personal loss and isolation that reshaped the way he wrote music. It was during this time he began turning private journal entries into lyrics, and his simple piano progressions became full songs with weight and honesty.
Rather than chase trends, he leaned into a timeless sound — stripped piano, raw vocals, and lyrics that felt like unguarded conversations.
Eryk’s music centers on emotional piano ballads that speak to themes of self-forgiveness, resilience, and quiet strength.
Now signed under nemXmusic as their first featured artist, Eryk has quietly begun building his audience with songs like The Road Ahead and Carry Me. His approach isn’t built on spectacle, but on connection. Every release is meant to feel like a letter — one listener at a time.
Has lost most of his southern accent however when talking to relatives he slips back into it easily. He also will occasionally slip into it when singing…listen for it on his songs :-)

nemXmusic proudly welcomes our first artist, Eryk Calder. His heartfelt piano ballads mark the beginning of a new chapter for our label.
